💬 Dialect: The Next-Generation Messaging App
We use a multitude of centralized messaging apps each day which put our info at risk. This is where web3 messaging apps can offer a more secure solution full of cool features 📴
Welcome to Episode 12 of my Adventures on the Solana Blockchain 🚀
Messaging apps have become an indispensable part of our daily lives, allowing us to communicate with friends, family, and colleagues across the globe in real time.
However, traditional messaging apps are centralized, meaning that all our data is stored on servers owned by the company, which can be vulnerable to hacking, data breaches, and censorship.
That's where Dialect comes in, a next-generation messaging app built on the decentralized Web3 infrastructure that offers secure, private, and censorship-resistant messaging.
Let’s learn about Web3 messaging and Dialect! 📱
🙋♂️ What is Web3 Messaging?
Web3 messaging is a new kind of messaging that uses decentralized technologies such as blockchain to enable secure and private communication.
Unlike traditional messaging apps, web3 messaging doesn't rely on a centralized server to store user data. Instead, user data is stored on a decentralized network of computers, making it virtually impossible for hackers to compromise the system.
Furthermore, it also uses end-to-end encryption to ensure that only the intended recipient can read the message.
❓What is Dialect?
Dialect is a next-generation web3 messaging app and protocol.
It is fully decentralized, meaning that there is no central authority controlling the platform. This makes it more secure and transparent, as well as gives users more control over their data.
After downloading the app on the (Apple & Android store), you’ll have a wallet created enabling you to start sending smart messages, mint stickers, and more...
Web3 onboarding doesn’t get much easier than that!
🧠 Smart messages
Dialect is pioneering a kind of messaging called Smart Messaging.
Smart Messaging makes it possible to send and receive tokens and interact with your favorite apps right from your messages and notifications
These are messages you can take action on 👨💻

In more detail, smart Messaging allows developers to embed smart contracts in messages. These allow users to transfer, accept offers, re-bid, follow artists, and more.
🗜️ Compressed NFTs
On March 16th, Dialect released its first sticker pack, the Genesis Mint. The first one of its kind as it was powered by compression.
Compressed NFTs are a type of non-fungible token that has been optimized for size and speed. They are created by compressing the original image or file that makes up the NFT, reducing its size while maintaining its visual quality.
The big upside?
It allows for faster transactions and lower gas fees. Meaning that the cost of minting for a project is much lower and enables users to mint without any funds.

No rent. No transaction fees.
The table above shows some mind-blowing numbers when comparing non-compressed and compressed NFTs. A win for artists and collectors alike. 💪
🖼 Stickers
A new way to own your voice in web3.
These stickers are assets made by artists and are NFTs like any other. Users will be able to trade and sell them.
Stickers are found in the messaging wallet and can be used in chats inside Dialect.

Since the launch of the beta, users have been able to claim a handful of sticker packs. Either because they are holders of specific NFT projects, invited friends, or claimed some when they were shared in certain group chats.
On my end, I was able to claim 15 of them since getting on the app from some top NFT collections on Solana such as MonkeDAO, ABC, FFF, DAA, Lotus, Okay Bears and many more…
